Scott Sleith - THANKS WALTER, SIR DAVID MURRAY AND BARRY FERGUSON - September 2009.
LAST SEASON the league flag returned home along with the Scottish cup.
It wasn't the best season of football we have ever seen but let's be honest...WHAT A RELIEF.
It just makes the whole summer that wee bit easier on us and allows us to have a wee snigger at the SELIK fans wearing those stupid ugly bumble bee tops...seriously what's that all about.
WALTER SMITH has now been back for a few seasons now and I for one am extremely happy with the work he has done.
Now I know everyones not his biggest fan this time round but, at this particular stage of the clubs history, where basically we are skint, could anyone else do a better job?
Champions again and to be honest we should have been champions from the previous season as well.
The football hasn't been great but people often forget what he had to do.
We were absolute miles behind SELIK before he returned and the manager did tell everyone his first priority would be to shore up the back and make us harder to beat...no one disagreed that's what was need at the time and he duly delivered.
I for one am fed up with the SELIK fans and their media friends talking about playing football the Selik way and how we play anti-football.
Don't be fooled this is a pure and utter myth.
Selik haven't played good football since the late Tommy Burns was manager.. That includes their last two managers.
SIR DAVID MURRAY has stepped down as chairman and I would like to thank him for a job well done and wish him luck in his future.
He had a dream, we all bought into the dream and we were so close..good memories we have...9 IN A ROW.
BARRY FERGUSON has moved on and again I wish him all the best and thank him for the many times he played through the pain barrier for us and dragged us single handed to league and cup titles.
I'm positive he will do well again down south but also agree it was definitely the right time for the club to let him go.
Hopefully this will allow others to step up to the mark.
So there you have it my thoughts...praising Walter, Sir David and Barry Ferguson...If only everyone felt the same.
